I tell people I’m stupid about Baseball having never actually played the game on a real team, but as I get older, and because I just love data and strategy in general, I really love watching the Gamecasts as the games are played (so without actually watching the real game live).
Look at this absolutely sweet pitch setup that Sewald just delivered to get the 3rd out in the 9th to win the game. The guy on 1st just walked so the Trashstroes are feeling fairly hopeful and gamey as only one pitch/hit could tie the game…a very long and very low scoring stressful game. In fact, I’m honestly wondering if the guy who walked was actually on purpose to set up the next out….but I’m pretty baseball stupid, so who knows *shrugging*
This is where a real strategist (Sewald/Raleigh) ALWAYS whoops a stupid bottom feeding tactician (Abreu). The game really is like a casino poker game and involves so many feelings…feelings that “tell” subsequent behaviors and actions…so the first pitch, again, with the one hopeful runner on 1st is the real setup for the overly gamey hopeful fat headed dummy at the plate. An EASY-to-hit 4-seamer right over the plate….dummy DOESN’T swing BUT is now PISSED that he MISSED OUT on such an easy homerun ball lol
Second pitch…same pitch but off the plate just enough to give the dummy some meat to sniff lol ….STRIKE …big whiff! ….then the slider…damn, what an angry pitch lol …dummy doesn’t have a chance, damn brain can’t process it fast enough given the sheer physics….WHIFF!! LOL …….NOW…oh man, big dummy is SEERING WITH RAGE inside just ready to …blow lol
4th and last pitch…EXTREMELY WELL PLACED 4 seamer AGAIN and over the plate again…but this one just inside, a touch high and in…….oh MAN OH MAN that’s an ANGRY ANGRY ANGRY PITCH!!! LOLOLOL
and then with the EXTREMELY HIGH EXTREMELY STATISTICALLY PREDICTABLE outcome given the tactician’s own easily baited basic chemical concentration of FEELINGS in his bloodstream….having been so deftly manufactured from the dissertation of pitches preceding it…
…whiff…and last out…for the win.
